Clairmont Hills Church seeks commercial zoning

From a neighbor of the Clairmont Hills Baptist Church at the corner of North Druid Hills Rd and Clairmont Rd: "This coming Tuesday [Jan. 26, 2010], at the meeting of the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners, the Commission will vote on a proposed change of zoning of the Clairmont Hills Baptist Church property... The purpose ... is 'officially' to allow the church to have an electronic message board on their existing sign - which is currently not allowed under the R-100 zoning. However, changes in zoning can have devastating effects on the surrounding properties! .... Once the zoning of the property has changed, new owners [e.g., developers] would be entitled to the allowances of that zoning -- which could be very detrimental to our property rights and quality of life. We oppose the change in zoning and ask you to join us in opposiiton to the zoning change. We don't mind the sign being allowed by other means, such as a variance... Please let the commissioners know your thoughts...." Chris Gallagher (ccaragher AT earthlink.net)
