CHCA gas lines replacement update 2/11/10

Update 2/11/10: Rain and other issues are making the project messier.  From a resident: "I had a couple of my co-workers tell me that the Atlanta Gas Light pipeline replacement program has been a nightmare in their neighborhoods. The main problem is messes made are not cleaned up and sidewalks and other built structures are not replaced or replaced with like material. There advice was that homeowners should take before and after pictures and stay on top of crews when they are working on the property nearest them."  Contact information for the project can be found below.

Update 2/4/10: Work recently has centered on N Superior.  And it's gotten messy.  A crew leader informed us today (2/4/10) that they unexpectedly hit a lot of granite bedrock and that has forced them to open larger holes and take more time.

Original announcement: You may have noticed the multicolored flags and markings appearing on the street and front yards. Atlanta Gas Light Company left a note in our mailboxes indicating that they will be replacing the gas main. The note says they will avoid "open ditching" by using "directional boring equipment" and that they will clean up after themselves and make repairs as they go along. The contractor is Infrasource Underground Construction. Contacts are 404-584-3039 pipelinereplacements@aglresources.com A copy of the note is attached.  A map of the construction locations can be found on the AGL website and also here
