Medlock Park Community Garden

Medlock Park Community Garden is ready for sign-up. We will start with twenty plots the first year with the possibility of more once we get settled in.  We need 20 people to commit to a plot for 2010. The deadline to reserve a plot is February 15.

ANNUAL FEES
To get our permit we will have to submit $400 to the county with the application.  This includes a onetime registration fee of $200 plus the annual $200 fee for the space.  The first twenty people will be named "founders" because they will be paying the one time registration fee...not that the title will mean anything, but you get the thanks of future gardeners!  With 20 plots in the space, the fee per gardener will be $20 for 2010 plus the cost of water.  The cost of water should be less than $5 per gardener for the entire year. After the first year, the annual permit fee paid to the county is $200. That's only $10 per gardener.

PLOTS
A map is attached with plot numbers. Plots (4 feet by 10 feet) will be assigned on a first come first served basis and the fee must be paid to hold the plot. Once we get 20 committed people we will put in the permit application. Everyone will sign the guidelines and release forms and we will be ready to go. This first year people will pretty much be one their own in terms of building the plots but we can all work together in the common areas to make compost piles, install fence, and clear the paths between plots. We will be making this up as we go along and trying to get the bones of the garden put in, most community garden meetings will be held in the garden and it will be a hands-on project.

To hold a plot, send a check for $20.00 to Sharon Johnson 887 Gaylemont Circle Decatur 30033 and give a first, second and third choice plot number. Put on the description line of the check “Medlock Community Garden”.
