Correction re: StandUp DeKalb on FAA proposal to lower flight ceilings

Dear Friends and Neighbors, After my previous email regarding the proposed FAA changes for PDK & Hartsfield operating altitudes I received an email from Larry Foster of PDK Watch informing  me of a couple of corrections he wanted to make to the email:

26 February 2010
Dear StandUp DeKalb,
Two important errors must be corrected in your otherwise helpful message about the FAA proposal to change metro Atlanta airspace use.
First, this particular FAA proposal relates to lowering the minimum height at which Hartsfield-Jackson jets could fly over different parts of metro Atlanta, i.e., the airspace available for such jet traffic. This proposal, however, does NOT automatically change the recommended Hartfield-Jackson descent flight paths. Changing Hartsfield-Jackson descent flight paths could well be a future step, but that doesn't happen to be part of  this particular FAA proposal.  Although this distinction may sound like splitting hairs, maintaining the accuracy and credibility of the statements you send out
to the general public is important.
Second, PDK Watch Inc. was emphatically NOT included in the "stakeholder group" that you indicated was "convened" by the FAA.  That "stakeholder group" was composed of representatives of general aviation in the metro Atlanta area.  PDK Watch didn't even learn about those meetings, in fact, until  nearly a year after they were over.  Aside from personally contacting a local FAA representative to ask him (unsuccessfully) to participate in the PDK Watch public meeting on February 17, PDK Watch has had no contact with the FAA regarding these proposed metro Atlanta airspace changes.

Ed. note: As a long-time supporter of PDK Watch and their activities regarding the operation of PDK, I find it very disturbing that they were not included in the "stakeholder group".  Please take that into your considerations as you weigh your thoughts on  this matter.
The FAA will be presenting their "project" to the public at: Chamblee Civic Center, 3540 Broad Street, Chamblee 30341.
