Event Date and Time:
05/07/2010 - 7:00pm

From Emory's Carlos Museum: On Friday evening, May 7 @ 7 pm, the Michael C. Carlos Museum and Decatur's Little Shop of Stories welcome Rick Riordan, author of the wildly popular series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Mr. Riordan will discuss his new series, The Kane Chronicles, which brings the gods and goddesses of ancient Egypt to life, literally!

The talk will be held at Glenn Auditorium on the campus of Emory University, 1615 North Decatur Road. Seating is general admission, first come-first served. Doors open at 6 pm. The program is free and open to the public.

The first book in The Kane Chronicles series, The Red Pyramid, will be available for sale beginning May 4 and may be pre-ordered now at the Carlos Bookshop or the Little Shop of Stories. Readers may remember that the opening scene of Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is set in the Metropolitan Museum in New York. The Red Pyramid begins in the British Museum and the father of the young protagonists is an Egyptologist! We thank Mr. Riordan for making museums such an important part of his books and offer fans in Atlanta a once in a lifetime opportunity to take a private tour of the Greek and Egyptian galleries of the Carlos with Mr. Riordan.

Visit the Carlos Museum Bookshop or the Little Shop of Stories before the close of business on May 4 to enter a raffle for a tour of the Carlos Museum galleries with Rick Riordan and special reserved seating at the talk. Names will be drawn on Wednesday, May 5 and winners will be notified by phone and/or email. The tour will take place on Friday, May 7 from 4:30-5:30 pm. No purchase is necessary to enter.

*Books will be on sale at the event. You must have purchased a copy of The Red Pyramid from either Little Shop of Stories or the bookstore at the Carlos Museum in order to get your book signed. Your receipt from either Little Shop of Stories or the Carlos Museum will serve as your ticket for the signing line and must be brought to the event.
