FEMA houses on Hunting Valley

A resident asks: "I noticed the 3 houses on Hunting Valley have finally been demolished. Is there any plan for those lots going forward? Is there a possible linkage to Medlock Park?"  Dave Butler, local resident and county greenspace manager, responded: "The lots on Hunting Valley Drive were purchased under the FEMA floodplain buyout program and are listed in the county inventory under Roads and Drainage. There is no plan currently to include the lots within Medlock Park because of the separation by the stream and because the lots are not all contiguous. DeKalb County Sanitation is responsible for maintenance of the lots. The silt fence will be removed once the grass comes in and the soil is stabilized. A link to the park through one of the lots is a possibility if the neighborhood wants it. That would require a bridge across South Fork Peachtree Creek."
