From the Emory Buddhist Studies Forum: There will be a sand mandala construction in honor of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s upcoming visit to Emory. The opening ceremony is Sunday, Aug. 29 at noon. His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama's Visit to Atlanta

In preparation for His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s upcoming visit to Emory University, the Drepung Loseling monks will create the Avalokiteshvara mandala representing the Buddha of Compassion.
This Sunday at Noon come join the Drepung monks as they perform a special ceremony, with multiphonic chanting and traditional Tibetan instruments, to prepare the mandala site for construction.
After the opening ceremony, the monks start drawing the line design for the mandala and begin the intial painting with sand until 7 PM that evening.
The mandala will be open for viewing from September 1 to October 10 on Sundays, Wednesdays & Fridays from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Meditation with the monks will commence on Wednesday & Friday evenings from 7 PM - 7:30 PM at the mandala site.
These programs are free and open to the public. Donations always welcome.
