PAWS Atlanta needs help with puppy mill dogs

From Paws Atlanta: The Department of Agriculture has closed down an illegal breeder in Oxford County. There are over 70 dogs, including toy Poodles, Dachshunds, Chihuahuas and Yorkies, that need medical attention (many have not even had their rabies shots), proper nutrition and care. PAWS Atlanta is starting the rescue operation by retrieving 20 of the dogs from the puppy mill on Sunday, September 5th. How can I help? There are four ways to help.

Elvis, a dapple dachshund from the mill
First, we will need donations of paper towels, bleach and latex
Cherry, a toy poodle from the mill
gloves.  Donations may be dropped off at the shelter during operating hours.  In-kind donation receipts will be provided.

Second, we will need volunteers on Sunday to help triage and attend to these dogs.  Volunteers will be performing one of the following important tasks:

General cleaning of kennels/preparation of shelter for puppy mill dogs - 10 AM to Noon.  No experience necessary. (3 people)

Host visitors who are visiting the shelter to look at adopting our current dogs - 10 AM to 6 PM.  Experienced volunteers and adoption counselors, only please. (2-3 people, may work in shifts)

Smiley, a chihuahua from the mill
Data entry of puppy mill dogs' information/front desk runner - 2 PM to 6 PM.  Some computer experience required. (1 person)

Vax area runner/assistant - 2 PM to 6 PM.  Must have experience with dogs. (1 person)

Intake area runner/assistant - 2 PM to 6 PM.  Must have experience with dogs. (1 person)

Bathers/grooming assistants - 2 PM to 6 PM.  Grooming experience a plus.  Must have experience with dogs. (2 people)

Inventory taker/photographer - 2 PM to 6 PM.  Some camera experience.  Must have experience with dogs. (2 people)

General cleaning of van/kennels - 2 PM to 6 PM.  No experience necessary. (3 people)

If you can help, please

email us as soon as possible with your first, second and third choices!  We will confirm with you via a
Casper, another puppy from the mill

reply email.

Third, we need foster homes desperately!  Due to lack of care or vaccinations, these dogs must be kept separate from other animals in the household.  If you would like to be a foster, or to learn more about the process, please email us.  A completed application and home visit will be required.

Fourth, spread the word about our available dogs to everyone you know.  The faster our pets find their safe, loving homes, the more pets we can help to save!
