Electronics Recycling and Household Hazardous Waste Collection

Posted on the Civic Association Network listserv : The "ecoDepot Collection" is on Saturday, Sept 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They will collect a number of standard electronics for recycling as well as household hazardous waste such as paint, paint thinners,  insecticides, lighter fluid and medicines for disposal. More details from their website are below as well as a link to the complete list of items that will/will not be accepted.

Also, mark your calendar now for Saturday, Oct. 30th, when we will have our next Decatur Electronics Recycling Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot at Decatur High. Details are on the City's website:

The ecoDepot Collection, a City of Atlanta Household Hazardous Waste, Medicine and E-Scrap event:

Saturday, September 25, from 10am - 2pm at Atlantic Station

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, Americans generate 1.6
million tons of household hazardous waste per year. The average home can
accumulate as much as 100 pounds of household hazardous waste in the
basement and garage and in storage closets.

Here is a partial listing of household hazardous waste and medicines/drugs
that will be accepted:

* Look in your basement for: Paints, fuels, lighter fluids, paint
thinners and other hazardous items
* Check the garage for: fertilizers, insecticides, weed killers
* Look under the sink for: oven cleaner, metal polish, rug cleaners
* Search that junk drawer for: lithium, alkaline and Ni-Cad
batteries, button batteries (watches etc)
* Check your medicine cabinet for: over the counter and most
prescription drugs
* Additionally, various electronic items will be accepted for
recycling.
