Embrace Our Green Space Race March 24, 2012

From Ted Daniels via Civic Association Network: Season's Greetings! Please mark your calendars for the Second Annual Embrace Our Green Space Race. As in the inaugural event this past March, we will again have a variety of events: 2K walk for kids and seniors, 5K run/walk, 10K run, 10K skate and
20K bike ride. There are police escorts and traffic control at major intersections on the 10K and 20K courses. All event courses wind through
neighborhood streets and sidewalks with lots of turns. All events are non-competitive. On-site registration begins at 9AM on Saturday, March 24,
2012 in parking lot at Oak Grove United Methodist Church. Post race snacks donated by local restaurants.

From the Medlock Area Neighborhood Association: Dear neighbors,Earlier today, the DeKalb County Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) approved Selig Enterprises' special exception to reduce parking; this vote clears the way for the next stage in the redevelopment of Suburban Plaza. It was a very contentious meeting as many people felt it was their only venue for stating how they feel about Walmart. As noted elsewhere, Suburban Plaza is already zoned for a big box store with Walmart's specs and the ZBA could only vote to do one of three things: accept the request, reject it, or defer it for later consideration. The ZBA voted to accept the request with conditions (see below).

Saturday, December 3, 9-11 a.m.  Saturday's Guests Include: Congressman Hank Johnson's Office of Constituent Services; The Salvation Army's Programs and Resources; Mothers Against Drunk Driving; Stone Mountain Park -A Stone Mountain Christmas; Atlanta Community Food Bank. Please bring a canned good item ! We will be donating items to help our neighbors in need to the Atlanta Community Food Bank!  Since 1997, Commissioner Stan Watson has utilized this platform to connect elected and appointed officials, public safety representatives, DeKalb County services and resources and the community together. His purpose is to educate, inform, and inspire community-wide opportunities to work together. There is never a charge to attend and it is open to the public.
