Comm. Rader's New Nightclub OrdinanceCommissioner Rader has proposed a new "nightclub" definition for the zoning code that will specifically allow the Board of Commissioners to approve or disapprove via permitting, of any establishment that wishes to sell alcohol past midnite. Existing clubs, bars and restaurants would not be affected. On the plus side, this gives the BoC some control where none existed before. On the negative side, any restaurant or neighborhood bar will be viewed the same as an all adult nightclub that only sells alcohol, with no specifically stated difference in requirements regarding proximity to residential zoned property etc. Neighborhoods will need to be very vigilant as to who is requesting permits to operate in their area.
