Comment on Signs

There has been a recent spate of folks with missing pets posting signs around the neighborhood regarding their pets. While I don't think anybody begrudges them this attempt to recover their pets, please take your neighborhood into account and remove any signs that have been up for more than 2 or 3 weeks. They get ratty and faded and can really make the area look trashy.

I would also like to point out that there is no such thing as a "legal" sign that is placed in the county right of way. This means real estate, yard sale, CHCA meeting etc. Even more illegal are signs fastened to traffic sign poles(stop signs, speed limit etc.). In fact, we have seen enforcement officers writing tickets for over $100 for signs affixed to stop signs. I believe there is a willingness on the part of enforcement officers to generally ignore meeting, yardsale and real estate open house signs, so long as they are removed in a very timely fashion after the event. But I strongly urge you to not fasten signs to telephone poles or traffic signs.

It is not clear whether or not citizens can self-deputize themselves to remove offending signs, but we can certainly call code enforcement and request an officer come and issue a citation and remove the signs.

Here are some of the regs..
