New Hours for Sanitation Division
|
|
The DeKalb County Sanitation Division announces its new business hours. As of Monday, April 30th, the Administration Offices will be open Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm for walk-in customers. The Call Center will be open from 7:00 am to 6:30 pm to receive calls and requests. The offices will be closed on weekends and in observance of all County Holidays.

State of the Arts in DeKalb Survey Available Until July 1
Attention artists, art and cultural organizations, faith-based institutions, or residents who support the arts: DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis wants your feedback on shaping the future of arts and culture in the county. CEO Ellis appointed The Creative Industries Task Force to undertake an inclusive and comprehensive study of DeKalb's creative and cultural industry and to develop a plan to shape the cultural future of our community and position DeKalb County as a cultural center and destination.
The survey is available until July 1, online at www.dekalbcountyga.gov and at all DeKalb County libraries.

DeKalb County Mobile Career Center May Schedule
DeKalb County Chief Executive Officer Burrell Ellis announces the May schedule for DeKalb's Mobile Career Center. The center, which is also known as the county's "jobs bus," will be stationed at various locations throughout DeKalb County. The mobile unit supports the ONE DeKalb Works initiative by providing work readiness services and putting DeKalb County citizens back to work.
The mobile unit also provides residents with essential services, including job search assistance, adult workshops and training, resume writing, and interviewing tips. Businesses are also able to use the mobile unit for recruiting, pre-employment screenings, interviewing, and training.

ONE DeKalb's Keep DeKalb Beautiful Collects for Soles4Souls
DeKalb County Chief Executive Officer Burrell Ellis announces that ONE DeKalb's Keep DeKalb Beautiful joins Keep Georgia Beautiful, The Georgia Recycling Coalition, The Georgia Department of Community Affairs, Whole Foods, and 1-800-Got-JUNK? to collect shoes for the Soles4Souls charity through May 15. Shoes will be accepted Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Natural Resources Management Office, Sanitation Division - Central Transfer Station, 3720 Leroy Scott Drive, Decatur, Georgia 30032.
Soles4Souls is a shoe charity organization that collects shoes from the warehouses of footwear companies and the closets of individuals. Once shoes are gathered, they are distributed to people in need, regardless of race, religion, class, or any other criteria. Since 2005, Soles4Souls has delivered more than 16 million pairs of new and gently worn shoes across the world.
All types and sizes of shoes in good condition will be accepted. To donate to this worthy cause, citizens are asked to tie each pair of shoes together.
