At a meeting yesterday to update people on the status of Emory construction projects, Campus Services director Bob Hascall said the Clairmont Campus deck expansion was one of the projects currently “under review” because of economic conditions. They still plan on doing it but may have to move back the schedule. The original schedule called for construction to begin January 2009 and finish January 2010. The intersection improvements at Clairmont/Desmond and sidewalks on North Superior and Willivee that CHCA had negotiated were supposed to be implemented before end of deck construction. So they will likely also be delayed.
Also of possible interest, it was reported that travel on North Decatur Road near Emory Village may become difficult as utility work begins in January. The county will be replacing a water line, then Georgia Power will be placing their lines underground. The work may take about six months. After that, the county is scheduled to construct a roundabout at the intersection of North Decatur and Oxford Roads. Emory has already begun reconfiguring their entrance off North Decatur Road. That work should be completed by this December.
