Navigating the System
To Meet Your Child's Learning Needs

Practical and up-to-date information will be presented by an experienced panel:

Dr. William Martin, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist:
Psychiatric diagnosis and treatment options for ADHD and other common medical conditions

Dr. Ann Abramowitz, Clinical Psychologist and Emory professor:
Educational testing and counseling; IEP accommodations

Karen Baron, Director for Exceptional Education, Dekalb County Schools:
IEPs and other student programs: designing and implementing support for your child's needs

Greg Studdard, parent of three special education students in four DeKalb Schools:
A parent's experience in obtaining and implementing IEPs, as well as making the transition from high school special education programs to college learning support programs

Handouts will be provided for suggestions for IEPs; county, state and federal rules; contact information and many other resources.
