8/23 Burglary--There was theft from a non-residence reported that took place in the 500 Block of Willivee (Case Number: 09-107716). I have no other details to provide regarding this incident; however, this did not involve the actual home (possibly a shed or outdoor building).
The Clairemont/Great Lakes neighborhood reports two recent break-ins. One occurred Friday August 21, at 6xx Clairemont. The back door had been kicked in. The intruder took some coins and left their own umbrella, apparently taking shelter from the rain. On the same weekend, a house on Geneva St. was broken into while the residents were out for the evening. A laptop and Blackberry were the only items taken. The burglar(s) were not deterred by a dog in the home.
The Briarcliff Woods Neighborhood Watch was told to look out for the below. There are two vehicles they want you to watch for:
One is a white, paneled van with carpet cleaning service advertised on the truck - potentially carpet cleaning. A white male with long brown hair and possibly a female with him with white/blond hair have been sighted in the truck. This is not a couple who would ordinarily attract our suspicions--pretty clean cut looking. Notice the Van had "CARPET CLEANING" in red lettering on both sides. Good cover for thieves.....

From Clairmont/Great Lakes neighborhood via Communityradar.com Tuesday, August 4, ca. 4 p.m.: Hi everyone; I was just driving to my mother’s house down Superior and saw lots of Decatur Police cars. Then a DeKalb County police car motioned for me to pull over. She asked me if I had seen a black man wearing a tan hat and white shirt. . . I said I had not. She said he had just robbed the SunTrust at Publix and that they know he is in the neighborhood behind the shopping center but can’t find him. I asked if he was armed and she said no. I asked if anyone had been hurt and she said no.

A neighbor had their bicycle taken from a porch on Wendan Dr. last Friday, June 12 around 2:00pm. Several neighbors saw two black males in the neighborhood and one neighbor actually saw them with the bike heading up Scott Circle toward Desmond. Please make sure your bikes are secured and not visible from the street where someone passing by may take the opportunity to steal it.
