We've seen pileateds in the neighborhood and in Mason Mill Park but this is the first time it showed up in our yard when we had a camera handy. You can click on the video to see two more on the Flickr site. Videos by Tim Bryson and Catherine Larson.
As seen on June 6, 2009. Perhaps same two young hawks photographed in earlier posts. They were sitting on a tree, within a few yards of the original nest near the South Peachtree Creek Trail just beyond the steel bridge. One is eating and the other seems to be preening. To see video here, you need to have a flash player installed, e.g., the Adobe Flash Player. Or, you can view it on Flickr.com.
Viewed from South Peachtree Creek Trail steel bridge in Mason Mill Park on May 23, 2009. We think, from comparing the adults to bird books, that they are Red Shouldered hawks. Video requires the Adobe Flash player.
Can anyone identify these? Eastern narrowmouth toad (photo from Flickr.com)? Heard along SPC Trail boardwalk in Medlock Park, May 7, 2009. Video does not actually catch a view of the frog/toad (they're tiny in any case) but does capture their song in the audio. Video requires the Adobe Flash player.
Observed on South Peachtree Creek from the South Peachtree Creek Trail steel bridge on May 24, 2009. Requires the Adobe Flash player.
Including more of the Red Shouldered Hawk chicks (yes, there are two of them). Last four images link to videos on Flickr.com and we will also embed them in separate postings on this site. Feel free to send or upload your own photos. Appropriate videos are welcome too. At the moment we can link to videos on other sites or embed the videos here if you can give us the html code.
