Governor Sonny Perdue and state transportation leaders want to hear from you. A new transportation initiative, Investing in Tomorrow’s Transportation Today (IT3), will give Georgians the opportunity to voice their concerns and opinions about the future of transportation in the state.
From Bryan Cooke, director of the Clifton Community Partnership:
"My understanding is that our transportation department felt that DHHS students are provided with transportation if they need it and, our shuttles are over crowded with Emory employees trying to use alternatives. This was discussed with the DHHS principal who agreed that DHHS students should not be allowed to ride to Emory on the 3 Park N Ride shuttles. They are free to ride the C shuttle from the Clairmont deck and other intracampus shuttles."

Creating Walkable Communities for All
Wednesday, July 16, 2008 • 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Loudermilk Center for the Regional Community
40 Courtland Street • Atlanta, Georgia 30303
Join us for "Creating Walkable Communities for All," a workshop on ways to create pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods and corridors, with a special emphasis on the preferences and needs of older adults.
Metro Atlanta ranks second in the country for traffic congestion, and cars, trucks and other vehicles are the source of more than half of the metro area's ground-level ozone problem and one of the largest sources of fine particulates (soot). As Atlanta continues to grow, the need for an expanded public transit system is becoming more and more apparent.
A meeting has been scheduled with Super District Commissioner Kathie Gannon, District 2 Commissioner Jeff Rader and DeKalb County Roads and Drainage Director John Gurbal, for May 22 at North Decatur Presbyterian Church to discuss traffic control(not traffic-calming) measures in the quadrant bounded by:
Clairmont Rd~N. Druid Hills Rd.~Lawrenceville Hwy~N. Decatur Rd.
CHCA board members contacted the county this last week when it became apparent that a section of the new sidewalk had lost its underlay due to subsidence. The county got the contractor on the site within a couple days and they fixed it. They also, at CHCA request, removed some heavy pieces of debris which had been removed from Melton Park but had not been picked up by the county after the county clean up day.
Pending confirmation of county staff availability, a meeting has been scheduled with District 2 Commissioner Jeff Rader and DeKalb County Roads and Drainage Director John Gurbal, for May 22 at North Decatur Presbyterian Church to discuss traffic control(not traffic-calming) measures in the quadrant bounded by:
Clairmont Rd / N. Druid Hills Rd. / L'ville Hwy / N. Decatur Rd.
If you have or will have children attending DHHS or if you ever plan to walk along N. Decatur Road, please try to attend this very important meeting.
