County Board of Health is offering the H1N1 vaccine

From state rep. Stephanie Stuckey Benfield: The DeKalb County Board of Health is offering the H1N1 vaccine for healthy children ages 2 to 4 years old at all five of its health centers. The nasal spray is known as live attenuated influenza vaccine. Immunization efforts in DeKalb County are focused on reaching healthy children age 2 to 4 years old in order to protect a population that spreads the virus and is more at risk for hospitalizations.

Calibrating Work Force Size

From commissioner Jeff Rader, Oct 26, 2009 : Because of the country's economic recession, many states and counties are forecasting revenue shortfalls in the coming years. DeKalb County is no exception. For 2010, a preliminary estimate is that DeKalb faces a $45 million revenue shortfall in its budget. The options to balance the budget are to increase revenue via taxes, or to decrease expenses.

Time to Remake MARTA

From state rep. Mike Jacobs: My colleague, State Rep. Fran Millar (R-Dunwoody), wrote an outstanding op-ed column that ran in this past Sunday's AJC. It's a little-known fact that I ride MARTA to work every so often, on days that I don't have to take my kids to preschool or otherwise need to use my car. The short trip from either the Chamblee or Brookhaven station, near my home, to the Arts Center station, near my office, is very convenient and usually quicker than I-85.

This project – the North Druid Hills Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) study – will result in a master plan that brings all varied stakeholders together to form a unified vision for transportation and land use for the ultimate enhancement of the North Druid Hills area.

A broad range of products up to $1,500 marked with the ENERGY STAR logo and purchased for personal use are included in this unique incentive. Georgia Supreme Court ruling on county bonds

From state rep. Mike Jacobs: Taxpayers Hit Grand Slam, Development Authority Strikes Out The Georgia Supreme Court has issued its ruling in a case involving the issuance of bonds to fund construction of the county's now-completed Porter Sanford III Performing Arts and Community Center (click for information about this facility) near I-20.
